A Photo Of A Group Of People Marching With Signs That Say 'Civil Rights' And 'Education For All' Radical Equations: Civil Rights From Mississippi To The Algebra Project

This book is a must-read for anyone who cares about civil rights, education, or social justice. It is a gripping and inspiring story of how one man, Dr. Robert Moses, dedicated his life to fighting for equality and opportunity for all.

Moses was born in Mississippi in 1935, at a time when the state was still segregated. He grew up witnessing the injustices of Jim Crow, and he was determined to do something to change things.

In 1961, Moses joined the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC),a group of young activists who were fighting for civil rights. Moses quickly became a leader in the movement, and he played a key role in organizing voter registration drives and other nonviolent protests.

In 1964, Moses was arrested and beaten by police while trying to register African American voters in Mississippi. This experience only strengthened his resolve, and he continued to work for civil rights throughout the South.

In the late 1960s, Moses turned his attention to education. He believed that education was the key to empowering black people and giving them the tools they needed to succeed. In 1982, he founded the Algebra Project, a nonprofit organization that provides math tutoring and other educational support to students from underrepresented communities.

The Algebra Project has been a tremendous success, and it has helped thousands of students go on to college and successful careers. Moses has been recognized for his work with numerous awards, including the MacArthur Fellowship and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Moses's story is an inspiration to us all. It shows us that one person can make a difference, and that we should never give up on the fight for justice.

In this book, you will learn about:

* The Civil Rights Movement in Mississippi * The role of education in the fight for civil rights * The Algebra Project and its work to promote educational equity * The life and legacy of Dr. Robert Moses
