The Angel is the gripping true story of Ashraf Marwan, the Egyptian spy who saved Israel from destruction during the Yom Kippur War. Marwan was a high-ranking official in the Egyptian government, and he used his position to provide Israel with vital information about Egypt's military plans. His actions helped Israel to win the war, and he is credited with saving the lives of thousands of Israeli soldiers.

Marwan was born in Cairo in 1944. His father was a wealthy businessman, and his mother was a member of the Egyptian royal family. Marwan was educated at the American University in Cairo, and he later earned a master's degree in business administration from Harvard University. After graduating from Harvard, Marwan returned to Egypt and joined the Egyptian government. He quickly rose through the ranks, and by 1973 he was a close advisor to President Anwar Sadat.

In the months leading up to the Yom Kippur War, Marwan passed on vital information to Israel about Egypt's military plans. This information included the date and time of the planned attack, the number of troops involved, and the location of Egypt's air defenses. The Israeli government used this information to plan its own defenses, and it is widely believed that Marwan's actions saved the lives of thousands of Israeli soldiers.

After the war, Marwan's role as a spy was discovered by the Egyptian government. He was arrested and sentenced to death. However, he was later pardoned by President Sadat and allowed to leave Egypt. Marwan lived in exile in London until his assassination in 2007.

The Angel is a fascinating and inspiring story of courage, sacrifice, and betrayal. It is a must-read for anyone interested in the history of the Middle East, the Cold War, or espionage.
